Remarks: "Black Dallas Beer. Circa: Early 1939. This American Can Company, 12 ounce container, lists 2 Pats.- Others Pending and was Brewed and Packed by Manhattan Brewing Company of Chicago, Illinois. Notice the overwritten verbiage on the black panels. The blackened box at the top of the face panel covers "St. Louis", and the blackened areas on the left side panel covers information pertaining to the A. B. C. Brewing Company of St. Louis, Missouri. The Manhattan Brewing Company had purchased the A. B. C. Brewing Corporation and issued this transitional can design pending American Can Company's ability to print a new design. This Grade 3 example is one of only three known to the author, and is arguably in the best condition. Rarity Rating: R-9." Reprinted with permission from Kevin C. Lilek.
