Remarks: "Brown Derby Pilsner Beer. Circa: 1940 - Early 1942. This American Can Company, 12 ounce container, lists 2 Pats.- Others Pending and was Brewed and Packaged by Los Angeles Brewing Company of Los Angeles, California. This is a similar package design as seen on the previous page (USBC-OI 134) with, however; the change from one to two paragraphs of text, concluding with "Safeway Stores Inc.", at the top of the face panel. The author's research into American Can Company printing records reflects that a similar package design with "Brown Derby Pilsner", printed below the single paragraph of text on the face panel, as seen in the previous two examples, was graphically created and could have been produced, but an actual example is not known to exist. The Los Angeles Brewing Company was a early and strong supporter of the beer can and it is odd that an example, if actually produced, has not yet surfaced. Although this Grade 1- example is represented, there are several quality examples known to the author. Rarity Rating: R-6/R-1." Reprinted with permission from Kevin C. Lilek.
