Remarks: "Bay State Ale. Circa: Late 1936. This National Can Company, 12 ounce container, lists Patents Pending and was filled by Commonwealth Brewing Corporation of Springfield, Massachusetts. This is the same package design as seen on the previous page (USBC-OI 74) with, however; the lightly shaded black almost gray-like enamel coloring. This short lived container was quickly replaced by the new color scheme seen on the following page (USBC-OI 76). As an added note, this color scheme may have been used on the matching Bay State Beer package design, but an example is not know to exist. This Grade 1 example is one of only three quality examples known to the author, along with a few lesser condition examples existing also. Rarity Rating: R-9/R-9."
